John Landry has been writing and editing about companies for thirty years. He worked at the Harvard Business Review for thirteen of those years. There he rose to be editor for business development, a role that had him overseeing the magazine’s syndication. He helped to build the foreign licensing, and trained most of the editors in the magazine’s eleven translated editions.
He also wrote most of the magazine’s book reviews over those years. He is adept at taking a mass of details and developing the key insights and stories that readers will find useful. Since leaving HBR in 2009, he has written or edited dozens of blogs, articles, and books for a variety of business clients.
Trained as a business historian, he has written or co-authored histories of a dozen organizations. He focuses on the human narratives in a company’s story, as well as the drama of creating value for customers.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in the humanities from the University of Chicago, and a Ph.D. in American economic history from Brown University.
